One month to our new Season!

AMTG will soon be welcoming the Members, new and old, back to rehearsals, starting September 2018 for our new Season. The World Cup and Wimbledon will be distant memories – hopefully we have done well!

We have just had our AGM, and a newly-elected Committee is in place, with a new Chairman, Carl Benfield leading the Group. The outgoing Chair, Karen Walker, remains on the Committee as an Ordinary Member, and we also welcome new Committee Member Debra Freeman. There’s a lot to do as we head towards September, and the Committee are raring to go!

Uppermost in our mind is our production for April 2019, The Pirates of Penzance – the Broadway version, and we look forward to hearing from anyone who just can’t wait to be a Pirate, a Policeman, or a Major-General’s daughter! We will be holding New Members’ Auditions at the beginning of September, and if you would like to join us, please send us a message to enquiries@amtg.org.uk and we will let you have further details.

For this show our President and Musical Director, Alan Hutchinson, and resident accompanist Siân Turner, will be putting us through our musical paces. AMTG are known for their very professional attention to detail, and this show is full of Ensemble numbers that will keep all the Members involved throughout. Our Producer/Director David McKnight has already seen the set, and is currently working his way through the rehearsal book – as usual David will add his own inimitable touches to produce a high quality production that our audiences are used to enjoying.

Fans of Gilbert and Sullivan will not be disappointed as the Broadway version contains all the songs of course, but everyone will be delighted to see this updated and highly comical production, all set around a very big misunderstanding – which all works out very well in the end. We can’t wait to start!

You’ll have to come and see it at our lovely theatre home, the 400 Hall at Repton School. Tickets will be £16, with some reduced price seats at £13 as in previous years. For more information please email us at amtg.org.uk and we’ll be happy to tell you more!
